Leaderboards

Nothing makes people replay your game like trying to beat their friends' scores.

Adding a leaderboard

Just ask Star in the chat. Type something like "add a leaderboard" or click the Add leaderboard suggestion pill. Star wires everything up automatically.

No configuration needed. Star detects your game's scoring system and connects it to a persistent leaderboard that saves scores across sessions and players.

What players see

Score table

A styled modal showing the top scores with rank, player name, and score. Top 3 get gold, silver, and bronze badges.

Weekly and All-Time tabs

Players can switch between this week's competition and the all-time rankings. Weekly resets every Sunday at 9pm ET.

Your rank

If the current player has a score, their entry is highlighted so they can see where they stand.

Player names

Signed-in players use their Star username. Guests get a persistent "Player-XXXX" name that sticks across sessions.

Score sorting

By default, higher scores rank first (great for points, kills, distance). For games where lower is better (speedruns, golf, reaction time), tell Star and it'll set the leaderboard to sort ascending.

Why add a leaderboard

  • Games with leaderboards get more replays. Players come back to beat their own score and their friends.
  • Leaderboards make sharing natural. "Beat my score" is the easiest invite you can send.
  • Weekly resets keep competition fresh. Even if someone dominates all-time, there's always a new week to win.
